Color Books is a subsidiary of 1st Book Publishing, which was founded by a group of American and European publishing entrepreneurs.

Starting out in the 1980s as self-publishers, they soon found out how difficult and near impossible it was then for unpublished authors to place their titles with larger publishing houses and book distributors.

When in the mid-1990s a new era in publishing began with on-demand printing, and considering that about 100,000 new books are published each year (most of them failing to become economically viable), the team decided to offer “Cost-efficient publishing solutions for authors and publishers” based on the Print-on-Demand business model as well as their publishing expertise.

This expertise includes having produced books in several languages (English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Greek and Hebrew) and other related work required to publish attractive 4-color or black & white books in both hard and soft cover versions.

Color Books is specialized in the production and distribution of books with color inserts, no matter how many color pages a book has. Printing and distributing color books "on demand" is revolutionary and very unique. The system has been praised throughout the entire book publishing community as cost-efficient for the fast production of any number of color books.
